PREVIEW: LIONS V KING'S LYNN

LEICESTER go for back-to-back Premiership wins when they host King’s Lynn at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park on Thursday (7.30pm).

The Watling JCB Lions put in an excellent all-round team effort to see of Wolverhampton 49-41 last week and now look to continue to build their momentum against the Stars.

Stewart Dickson’s side are at full strength and continue with an unchanged riding order for a meeting which was initially scheduled to take place a fortnight ago and was quickly re-arranged after the weather intervened on that occasion.

The Stars have had a testing start to the season, with their sole victory so far ironically also coming in a 49-41 home win over Wolverhampton.

That meeting saw former World No.2 Krzysztof Kasprzak race to a 15-point maximum, and there is little doubt that the enigmatic Pole’s performance is pivotal to their hopes.

Elsewhere in the side, ex-Lions man Nicolai Klindt rides at No.1 whilst his fellow countryman Frederik Jakobsen makes his third appearance at Leicester, the last coming when he scored paid-11 at reserve whilst racing for Poole in 2018.

The visitors are without captain Josh Pickering, who is currently sidelined by a shoulder injury, and have called up Belle Vue’s former British Under-21 Champion Tom Brennan to guest at reserve.

Dickson said: “We can certainly look forward to this meeting after our win last week, but we mustn’t under-estimate King’s Lynn because they’ve got riders who can ride here as well.

“However, the confidence is up now, our riders have shown they can do it, and now they will be expected to do it on a much more consistent basis.

“It was a very happy camp last week, which does come with winning of course, and the key now is to get a run of results going at home.”

Gates open at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park at 6pm with the meeting getting underway at 7.30pm.

LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Nick Morris, Jake Allen, Dan Thompson.
KING’S LYNN: Nicolai Klindt, Thomas Jorgensen, Frederik Jakobsen, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Michael Palm Toft, Tom Brennan, Jason Edwards.
